BALLERS (HBO) - Tim Johnson, Jr. is slated to recur on the show's final season as Lazar, "the soft spoken sibling in a trio of brothers who are all competitive gamers. The brothers are approached by Vernon (Donovan W. Carter) who shifts his focus from football to his love of professional gaming." (Deadline.com)
CONNERS, THE (ABC) - Maya Lynne Robinson's Geena, "DJ's wife and mother to their daughter Mary," will be written out of the series to due the actress's commitment to the CBS newcomer "The Unicorn." (TVLine.com)
DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW (The CW) - Johnathon Schaech's Jonah Hex has booked a return trip to the series as part of the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover event. (EW.com)
DISCOVERY OF WITCHES, A (Sundance Now) - James Purefoy, Steven Cree, Sheila Hancock and Paul Rhys have all signed onto the show's second season. Purefoy will play Philippe De Clermont, "the founder of the Congregation and commander of the Knights of Lazarus"; with Cree as vampire Gallowglass De Clermont; Hancock as elder witch Goody Alsop; and Rhys as Andrew Hubbard, "the vampire ruler of all creatures in London in 1590." LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE (Hulu) - Byron Mann is the latest to board the limited series as Ed Lan, "a Shaker Heights lawyer with a fierce pride in his own Chinese heritage who readily takes on the custody battle between 'Bebe Chow' (Huang Lu) and the wealthy, white McCullough family in what soon becomes the biggest trial in the city's history." TEACHER, A (FX) - The limited series has cast Ashley Zukerman as Matt, "Claire's (Kate Mara) supportive and loving husband with a boyish charm and a creative side that he's been repressing for years"; Marielle Scott as Kathryn, "a French teacher at Westerbrook and Claire's newest friend"; Shane Harper as Logan, "Cody's (Moulène) older brother"; Adam David Thompson as Nate, "an ex-military and current police officer who is Claire's older brother, a nice guy pretending to be tough because the job requires it."; Rya Kihlstedt as Sandy, "Eric's (Nick Robinson) hardworking working-class mother who's been on her own his entire life"; Camila Perez as Alison, "Eric's socially conscious and well-meaning ex-girlfriend"; Cameron Moulène as Cody, "a frat boy and Logan's older brother"; and Ciara Bravo as Mary. TIPS (Spectrum, New!) - Cherry Chevapravatdumrong has sold a potential one-hour dramedy to the company about "a young woman who finds an escape from a soul-sucking job and recent breakup when she discovers an unexpectedly liberating hobby: pole dancing at a local bikini bar." I'll Have Another's Gabrielle Union and Original Film's Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty and Karina Rahardja will also executive produce for Sony Pictures Television with Holly Shakoor Fleischer co-executive producing. TRIBECA (NBC, New!) - Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner have sold a domestic take on the Korean series "Sky Castle" to the Peacock, billed as "a sophisticated family drama set in New York's most expensive ZIP code, the show explores the inner lives of a group of families and the lengths they will go to ensure their children succeed, regardless of the cost." The project, which has a put pilot commitment, is set up at the Warner Bros. Television-based Berlanti Productions with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Hyun Mi Yoo, Hyuntak Jo and Joon Suh Park likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED JULIA CHILD PROJECT (HBO Max, New!) - Joan Cusack in negotiations to play the famous chef and TV personality in a new series for the streaming service. Daniel Goldfarb is behind the project, which "chronicles Child's (Cusack) life and career from 1962 to 1976," with Chris Keyser, Erwin Stoff and Kimberly Carver also executive producing for Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment.
