In addition, W. There they'll produce "four unique adventure specials" for Amazon as well as solo projects from Clarkson, Hammond and May. (Deadline.com)
MIDDLE WEST (Amazon, New!) - Writers Alexander Aciman and Julien Martin Hawthorne are set to team with director Steven Caple, Jr. for a new drama at the streaming service in which "two Chicago FBI agents get called to Gary, Indiana as they investigate the murder and disappearance of two cops who were searching for an array of missing young men." Outlier Society's Michael B. Jordan and Alana Mayo as well as Point Grey Pictures' Seth Rogen, James Weaver and Evan Goldberg are also among its executive producers. Amazon Studios and Lionsgate Television are co-producing. (Variety.com)
PLASTICS (ABC, New!) - Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain have snagged a put pilot commitment from the Alphabet for a new drama "set in the competitive and male-dominated world of plastic surgery, where three women band together to start their own practice. Having put it all on the line to get to this point, they rely on one another to survive the complicated, exhilarating and sometimes heartbreaking world of plastic surgery, all the while trying to navigate their own complicated personal lives." Wonderland Sound and Vision's McG, Mary Viola and Corey Marsh will also executive produce the hour for 20th Century Fox Television. (Deadline.com)
RITA (Showtime) - Lisa Cholodenko has signed on to direct and executive produce the Lena Headey-led drama pilot, about a headstrong, unconventional teacher and single mother who takes on every kind of authority - as well as her family - in a messy and unfiltered way. (Deadline.com)
ROOKIE, THE (ABC) - Mekia Cox has joined the cast of the show's sophomore season as Nyla Harper: "After a four-year stint working undercover, Nyla Harper nearly lost herself. Now she's putting the uniform back on, hoping to find normalcy again as she takes on the role of training officer. However, with her home life in disarray, and the demons of undercover life still in her head, Nyla's got as much to learn as she does to teach." (Deadline.com)
SHOWTIME (HBO) - Gaby Hoffmann and Hadley Robinson are the latest additions to the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers pilot as Claire Rothman, "the general manager of the Forum - the first and only female manager of any major-market sports arena"; and Jeanie Buss, "daughter of Lakers owner Jerry Buss." (Deadline.com)
THIS IS NOT A DRILL (ABC, New!) - Tad Quill has scored a script commitment from the Alphabet for a potential comedy series about "a group of friends in Hawaii, who, when they think they're about to die in a missile attack, blow up their lives for the better." Sony Pictures Television is behind the project, which has a penalty attached. Doug Robinson will also executive produce via his studio-based Doug Robinson Productions banner. (Deadline.com)
TROUBLESHOOTER (FOX, New!) - Sheri Elwood has sold a new drama to the network "about a decorated soldier, wife and mother, Deni Vasquez. Overcoming scandal and under investigation, Deni is reassigned to a remote military base with her husband and teenage kids where she discovers life on the secluded post is just as lawless as life behind enemy lines." eOne and FOX Entertainment are behind the hour with Cedar Park Entertainment's Chris Long and David Ayer also on board to executive produce.
