1883 (Paramount+) - Isabel May and LaMonica Garrett have both been cast in the "Yellowstone" prequel series. May will play Elsa, "the eldest daughter of John and Margaret Dutton (played by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill). Through her eyes will come much of the perspective of the family's struggle when they up and leave Texas aboard a wagon train caravan into hostile territory toward a better life in Montana, where the fictional Duttons reside in the present." Garrett then is "the right hand of Pinkerton agent Shea Brennan (Sam Elliott), who hitches a ride with the Duttons and many others who'll fill the 30 actual wagon trains built for this epic-sized adventure series." (Deadline.com)
BETTY (HBO) - The pay channel has canceled the series after two seasons. "We will not be moving forward with a third season of 'Betty,'" the network said in a statement. "We are very grateful for the collaboration with Crystal and our incredible cast - their fearless exploration of the world of New York City's skate culture will remain a beautiful emblem of friendship and community." (Variety.com)
BIG SKY (ABC) - Logan Marshall-Green has joined the cast of the new season as Travis: "An old friend of Jenny (Katheryn Winnick) and her late husband Cody (Ryan Phillippe), Travis has been working undercover on a local drug ring for long enough that the line between Travis and his undercover alias Stone has begun to blur. Travis will cross paths with Jenny, whose new case overlaps with his undercover work. While Travis and Jenny will try to keep their relationship professional, they have a shared history as well as unresolved feelings that will make their partnership both difficult and dangerous." (Deadline.com)
ORDINARY JOE (NBC) - Christine Adams and Joe Carroll will both recur on the upcoming drama. Adams will play Regina Diaz, "supportive wife and mother who is smart, ambitious and can be formidable. She might've had a different path before her husband, Bobby Diaz (Adam Rodriguez) became an elected politician." And Carroll is Ray: "Married to Assistant District Attorney Jenny Banks, Ray's life changes when Cop Joe reenters Jenny's orbit." (Deadline.com)
PORCH, THE (CBS, New!) - Jaime Pressly is attached to star and executive produce a new multi-camera comedy for the Eye about "recently divorced LJ (Pressly), who returns home to the small North Carolina island she couldn't wait to leave to bury a mom she couldn't stand. She finds herself staying far longer than she ever imagined, reconnecting with the "porch" folks she never felt a part of and falling in love for the first time with the train wreck of a mother who is no longer alive." Susan McMartin is penning the project for CBS Studios with Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
RESIDENT, THE (FOX) - Stephen Wallem will recur on the upcoming season as Winston Robards, "a gentle and kind legally blind man who is brought to the hospital after being involved in a car accident. He relies on a cane to get around and isn't afraid to move about an unfamiliar space. He does his best to remain patient, but wanders off towards danger." (Deadline.com)
THING ABOUT PAM, THE (NBC) - Jenny Klein has been named the new showrunner of the Renee Zellweger-led limited series. She replaces Jessika Borsiczky, who "has left the project due to creative differences." (Deadline.com)
TIMEWASTERS (ABC) - Lauren Ashley Smith has signed an overall deal with CBS Studios, home to her domestic take on Daniel Lawrence Taylor's U.K. series. The pact covers her duties on the project as well as any future development. (Deadline.com)
