NBC Primetime Results for the Week of May 1-7

NBC PRIMETIME RESULTS FOR THE WEEK OF MAY 1-7

BURBANK, Calif. � May 9, 2006 � NBC averaged a 3.0 rating, 8 share in adults 18-49 and 8.9 million viewers overall for the week of May 1-7 according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

Primetime averages for the week of May 1-7 in adults 18-49 were Fox (4.4/13), CBS (3.6/10), ABC (3.2/9), NBC (3.0/8), Univision (1.5/4), WB (1.3/4), UPN (1.1/3) and Telemundo (0.4/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (12.3 million), Fox (10.7 million), NBC (8.9 million), ABC (8.7 million), Univision (3.4 million), WB (3.2 million), UPN (2.7 million) and Telemundo (0.8 million).

NBC highlights for the week of May 1-7:

* On Monday, "Deal or No Deal" won its competitive time period in 18-49, total viewers and other key measures. "Deal" was up 33 percent in 18-49 versus NBC's pre-"Deal" season average for the time period (excluding Olympics) and grew by 22 percent in 18-49 from half-hour to half-hour.

* On Tuesday, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" beat the ABC-CBS competition combined in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and adults 25-54, dominating the time period by all key measures.

* On Thursday, "The Office" retained a strong 93 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from "My Name is Earl," with both series ranking a solid #2 in their time slots in 18-49 and other key measures.

* On Friday, "Deal or No Deal" won the time period in 18-49, total viewers and other measures, with a 55 percent improvement over NBC's season average in the time slot prior to "Deal."

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of live only results through Dec. 25 and "live plus seven day" data since then, except for the two most recent weeks, which are live plus same day.

Non-sports averages for the 2005-06 television season among adults 18-49 are: Fox (a 3.9 rating), CBS (3.7), ABC (3.6), NBC (3.1), WB (1.3), and UPN (1.2).

Additional NBC highlights for the week of May 1-7:

On Monday, May 1 from 8-9:02 p.m. ET, "Deal or No Deal" (4.0 rating, 11 share in adults 18-49, 14.4 million viewers overall) was #1 in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures. "Deal" dealt a 33 percent improvement versus NBC's pre-"Deal" non-sports season average for the time period (4.0 vs. 3.0). From its first half-hour to its second, "Deal" grew by 22 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 4.4/12 from a 3.6/11) and by more than 2.0 million viewers.

Also on Monday, from 9:02-10 p.m. ET, "The Apprentice 5" averaged a 3.6/9 in 18-49 and 9.3 million viewers overall and at 10 p.m., "Medium" (3.7/9 in 18-49, 10.2 million viewers overall) finished #2 in the hour in 18-49, total viewers and other key measures.

On Tuesday, May 2 at 9 p.m. ET, "Scrubs" (2.6/7 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among adults, men and women 18-34. "Scrubs" doubled the 18-49 rating of its lead-in from the previous hour � a 1.3/3 in 18-49 and 3.0 million viewers overall for an encore "Scrubs" from 8:30-9 p.m. ET. At 9:30 p.m. ET, "Teachers" averaged a 2.0/5 in 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers overall.

Tuesday at 10 p.m., "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (5.3/14 in 18-49, 15.1 million viewers overall) beat the ABC-CBS competition combined in adults 18-49 and dominated the time period by all other key measures. From its first half-hour to its second, "SVU" grew by 23 percent in adult 18-49 rating, surging to a 5.9/16 from a 4.8/12.

On Wednesday, May 3 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Deal or No Deal" (3.8/11 in adults 18-49, 12.4 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in its time period in 18-49 by all key measure, trailing only Fox's special Wednesday edition of "House." Despite that competition, "Deal" was up 41 percent in 18-49 rating versus NBC's pre-"Deal" non-sports season average for the time period (3.8 vs. 2.7). From its first half-hour to its second, "Deal" grew by 24 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 4.2/11 from a 3.4/10).

Also on Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (2.9/7 in 18-49, 8.0 million viewers overall) posted a 38 percent improvement in adults 18-49 (2.9 vs. 2.1) versus NBC's average in the time period prior to "Dateline" and since "Idol" moved into the 9-9:30 p.m. half-hour on March 15.

At 10 p.m. ET, "Law & Order" averaged a 3.4/9 in 18-49 and 10.7 million viewers overall.

Thursday May 4 at 8 p.m. ET, "Will & Grace" (2.8/9 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures, outpacing ABC's "American Inventor," Fox's "That 70s Show," WB's "Smallville" and UPN's "Everybody Hates Chris." At 8:30 p.m., an encore "Will & Grace" (3.0/9 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in by 7 percent in 18-49 to keep NBC #2 in the half-hour in 18-49, total viewers and other measures.

Thursday at 9 p.m. ET, "My Name is Earl" (4.0/11 in 18-49, 8.8 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in by 33 percent in 18-49 to rank #2 in adults 18-49 and virtually all key ratings measures. In adults 18-49, the "Earl" margin over the third-place competitor was 74 percent (a 4.0 for "Earl" vs. a 2.3 for "The O.C." on Fox).

At 9:30 p.m. ET, "The Office" (3.7/9 in 18-49, 7.4 million viewers overall) retained 93 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from "Earl" to finish a solid #2 in adults 18-49 and other key measures. Since moving to Thursday on Jan. 5, "The Office" has as averaged an 89 percent retention of the "Earl" lead-in in 18-49, up from a 71 percent average on Tuesdays.

From 9:59-11 p.m. ET, "ER" (5.1/14 in 18-49, 11.8 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures and #1 in adults 18-34.

On Friday, May 5 at 8 p.m. ET, "Deal or No Deal" (3.4/12 in 18-49, 11.9 million viewers overall) won the time period in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures. "Deal" improved on NBC's 18-49 average for the time period prior to "Deal" by 55 percent (3.4 vs. 2.2). From its first half-hour to its second, "Deal" increased by 23 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.7/13 from a 3.0/12) and its overall viewership grew by more than 2.3 million viewers.

Friday at 9 p.m. ET, "Las Vegas" (2.6/8 in 18-49, 8.6 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49 and #1 in adults 18-34. At 10 p.m., "Conviction" averaged a 2.0/6 in 18-49 and 6.6 million viewers overall.

On Saturday, May 6 at 10 p.m. ET, an encore "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (2.0/6 in 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in adults 18-49. "Criminal Intent" matched NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period in nine weeks (since March 4).

On Sunday, May 7 at 8 p.m. ET, the penultimate episode of "The West Wing" (2.3/6 in 18-49, 7.9 million viewers overall) built by 28 percent in 18-49 rating versus its lead-in � a 1.8/6 in 18-49 and 7.1 million viewers overall for "Dateline NBC" from 7-8 p.m.

Sunday at 10 p.m. ET, the season finale of "Crossing Jordan" (3.2/8 in 18-49, 10.7 million viewers overall) built by 10 percent in 18-49 rating versus its lead in � a 2.9/7 in 18-49 and 10.4 million viewers overall for "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" from 9-10 p.m. This marked the seventh time in a row "Jordan" has built on its 18-49 lead-in from "Criminal Intent."
