MUSICAL PERFORMANCES FROM THE TONY NOMINATED BROADWAY SHOWS "CRY-BABY," "GREASE," "GYPSY," "IN THE HEIGHTS," "PASSING STRANGE," "SOUTH PACIFIC," "SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE" AND "XANADU," AS WELL AS THIS YEAR'S MUSICALS "A CATERED AFFAIR," "THE LITTLE MERMAID" AND "YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN," WILL BE FEATURED ON "THE 62ND ANNUAL TONY AWARDS(R)," TO BE BROADCAST LIVE FROM RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL IN NEW YORK CITY, SUNDAY, JUNE 15 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK
Musical performances from the Tony nominated shows "Cry-Baby," "Grease," "Gypsy," "In The Heights," "Passing Strange," "South Pacific," "Sunday in the Park with George" and "Xanadu," as well as this year's musicals "A Catered Affair," "The Little Mermaid" and "Young Frankenstein," will be featured on THE 62ND ANNUAL TONY AWARDS�, live from Radio City Music Hall, Sunday, June 15 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET, delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.
As previously announced, THE 62ND ANNUAL TONY AWARDS will feature special performances by Tony Award-winning musicals "Rent" and "The Lion King."
Tony Award-winning star of stage and screen Whoopi Goldberg ("Thoroughly Modern Millie") will host the awards show. Alec Baldwin, Gabriel Byrne, Julie Chen, Kristin Chenoweth, Glenn Close, Harry Connick, Jr., Laurence Fishburne, Richard Griffiths, Laura Linney, John Lithgow, Liza Minnelli, Mary-Louise Parker, Mandy Patinkin, David Hyde Pierce, Daniel Radcliffe, Brooke Shields, Marisa Tomei, Lily Tomlin and John Waters have been set to present.
THE 62ND ANNUAL TONY AWARDS, presented by Tony Award Productions, a joint venture of the League of American Theatres and Producers and the American Theatre Wing, have been broadcast on CBS since 1978. The Tonys were founded in 1947 as a memorial to Antoinette ("Tony") Perry, the American Theatre Wing's World War II chairperson.
This will mark the 11th year that the historic Radio City Music Hall is home to the Tonys.
Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss of White Cherry Entertainment return as executive producers. Weiss, who won an Emmy Award for the 2005 broadcast, will also serve as director for the eighth consecutive year. Elizabeth Ireland McCann returns as managing producer and Joey Parnes will serve as coordinating producer for Tony Award Productions.
