Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: "Big Brother" Holds Off "Last Comic Standing" Finale

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (8/14/14):

CBS (5.482 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) claimed top honors on Thursday with its mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (7.666 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2), "The Millers" (5.967 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4), "Big Brother 16" (6.392 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1) and "Elementary" (3.237 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9).

NBC (4.511 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1) then was a close second place with a repeat "Hollywood Game Night" (3.794 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5) followed by the two-hour season finale of "Last Comic Standing" (4.870 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3).

Next up was ABC (4.447 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) with originals from "The Quest" (2.760 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9), "Rookie Blue" (5.063 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5) and the season finale of "NY Med" (5.518 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #7).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.044 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) offered up a repeat "Sleepy Hollow" (1.726 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #11) and the season finale of "Gang Related" (2.362 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #8).

And finally, repeats of "The Vampire Diaries" (0.540 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T12) and "The Originals" (0.515 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T12) on The CW (0.527 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) closed out the night. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Diaries" delivered a 0.3 rating at 8:00/7:00c and "Originals" a 0.2 rating at 9:00/8:00c.

In late-night metered market ratings (via NBC's press release):

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 3.1/8; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 1.4/4 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.7/4 with an encore.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.4/7; "Late Show," 0.4/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.5/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (0.8/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (8/15/13):

CBS (6.122 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) was the top draw on Thursday with its combination of "The Big Bang Theory" (7.306 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2), "Two and a Half Men" (6.514 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #4), "Big Brother 15" (6.868 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.3, #1) and "Elementary" (4.588 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9).

ABC (5.573 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) then claimed the silver with originals from "Wipeout" (5.103 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3), "Motive" (5.857 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T6) and "Rookie Blue" (5.758 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #5).

Next up was NBC (3.879 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and encores of "America's Got Talent" (4.059 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9) and "Hollywood Game Night" (3.674 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #8) plus a new "Hollywood Game Night" (3.902 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T6).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.706 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) offered up repeats of "Glee" (1.817 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #11), "New Girl" (1.526 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T12) and "The Mindy Project" (1.665 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T12).

And finally, repeats of "The Vampire Diaries" (1.041 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.4, #14) and "America's Next Top Model" (0.934 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.3, #15) on The CW (0.987 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the night.
