Monday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX, "The X-Files" Hold Off Surging Competition

Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (2/8/16):

FOX (6.860 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1) held onto the demo crown on Monday thanks to new episodes of "The X-Files" (8.252 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.5, #1) and "Lucifer" (5.469 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.7, #5).

ABC (7.605 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #2) then was a close second place with a new "The Bachelor" (8.540 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.4, #2) and the return of "Castle" (5.734 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8).

Next up was CBS (9.637 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #3) and its trio of "Supergirl" (8.008 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.8, #4), "Scorpion" (11.222 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.0, #3) and "NCIS: Los Angeles" (9.681 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #6).

Meanwhile, NBC (3.923 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) offered up originals from "Superstore" (5.189 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.4, #7), "Telenovela" (3.287 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #10) and "The Biggest Loser" (3.765 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8).

And finally, fresh installments from "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" (1.087 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #11) and "Jane the Virgin" (0.933 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #12) on The CW (1.010 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/5; "Late Show," 0.7/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/5 in metered-market households) tied CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.3/5). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (2/9/15):

ABC (8.218 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.3, #1) was the demo champ on Monday thanks to new episodes of "The Bachelor" (8.627 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.7, #1) and "Castle" (7.400 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T6).

CBS (10.273 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.0, #2) then claimed the silver with its mix of "2 Broke Girls" (9.021 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.3, #2), "Mike & Molly" (9.172 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.1, #4), "Scorpion" (11.592 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.2, #3) and "NCIS: Los Angeles" (10.130 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T6).

Next up was FOX (4.760 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #3) with originals from "Gotham" (5.635 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.8, #5) and "Sleepy Hollow" (3.884 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T9).

Meanwhile, NBC (4.480 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4) served up its special "The Celebrity Apprentice: Top Feuds, Firings and Fails" (4.565 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T9) followed by new episodes of "The Celebrity Apprentice" (4.866 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.4, #8) and "State of Affairs" (4.008 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #11).

And finally, fresh installments of "The Originals" (1.211 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.5, #13) and "Jane the Virgin" (1.356 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #12) on The CW (1.284 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former delivered a 0.7 rating while the latter posted a 1.0 rating.
