(from Sundance's press release, April 2009) Based on the book of the same name by award-winning filmmaker and acclaimed writer, Bill Carter, this six-part series takes a compelling behind-the scenes look at an isolated Eskimo village in Alaska, and its population explosion during the commercial salmon season. Cameras will follow six fishermen who endure rough waters, grizzly bears, vicious mosquitoes, and the antics of their fellow fishermen as a backdrop to the high-stakes drama of the rapidly depleting salmon population and the community's response to this major environmental issue. Series is produced and directed by Bill Carter, and executive produced by Academy Award nominee Nanette Burstein and Jordan Roberts. |
