6:02 p.m. - Hey it's the "B5" gang - Joe Nazzaro, Bruce Boxleitner, Tracy Scoggins, Peter Woodward, Samm Barnes, JMS and Doug Netter. A quick warning: my "B5" is a little rusty so a few references may go over my head.
6:04 p.m. - Clip time! It's from next week's DVD release. Seems silly to spoil something that comes out in a few days - but it features Sheridan being visited in a dream by Galen where he's warned about an impending apocalypse on Earth. And then Sheridan proceeds to bitch out Galen and his kind for keeping on bringing him apocalypse after apocalypse. It's followed by the trailer for the entire thing.
6:15 p.m. - Joe and JMS bicker about what clips are supposed to be shown and when. And then a bunch of people with sock puppets run up to the stage. I have no idea what's going on. More clips! It's a DVD extra called "The Sock Puppet Issue" which basically explains what's going on. It's essentially an extended gag in which JMS pitches Warner Bros. the show being done by sock puppets. I'm not doing it justice.
6:22 p.m. - Joe asks JMS about how "The Lost Tales" came to be. In short, Warner Bros. saw the financial potential.
6:24 p.m. - Bruce and Tracy reveal they both can still fit into their old uniforms. "I actually had mine taking in an inch," Tracy jests. "Because I was wearing it," Peter adds. Let the battle of wits begin!
6:26 p.m. - Peter notes that he had to get Bruce out of his wheelchair in the old folks home and Tracy to quit her job at Hooters to do the movie. There's a lot of good natured mocking going on. (It'll come across better in the transcript.)
6:29 p.m. - Tracy shares a story in which she ran into Peter after she got into a car accident. "Was it with Lindsay Lohan?" Bruce jokes.
6:31 p.m. - Tracy calls JMS one of the greatest American writers of this century and last "but he's not much of a morning person."
6:32 p.m. - JMS notes "B5" was one of the first shows to ever use virtual sets. Peter says it takes some getting used to.
6:33 p.m. - Crap - low battery warning! Hopefully I can make it through the next 30 minutes. If I get cut off I'll update from the transcript later.
6:34 p.m. - JMS jokes the beam that destroys New York in Sheridan's dream starts in New Jersey and "no one knows and no one cares."
6:35 p.m. - Doug says that JMS directed the movie because it was be too expensive to hire someone else and get them up to speed with what they wanted. He goes on to mention the DVD will be a test case for any studio that wants to try first-run DVDs based on TV shows.
6:37 p.m. - JMS says he has plenty of stories in mind for future "Lost Tales." He previously mapped out 100 years forward and back from the show's five-year arc and 1,000 years "in broad strokes."
6:39 p.m. - Samm, who's responsible for all the DVD extras, mentions that the movie was shot in just two weeks.
6:40 p.m. - Audience Q&A time. Someone asks if Zathras' prequent pronouncation/spelling issues is a play on people's trouble with JMS's name. "No," JMS says. Ah, Comic-Con you never disappoint.
6:41 p.m. - JMS says "watch the boards" to see if he'll have a new TV series in the near future.
6:42 p.m. - The next couple of people pitch their "Lost Tales" ideas. JMS's response is in short, anything and everything is on the table in terms of characters, timelines, etc.
6:45 p.m. - Joe hypes the release of JMS's scripts in book form. "Lost Tales" will most likely be collected as well sometime in the future.
6:46 p.m. - A fan asks about the "lost" "Lost Tales" episode - a Garibaldi-centric tale. Basically it had to be dropped for budgetary reasons.
6:47 p.m. - Peter talks about how JMS is one of the rare guys who has loyalty to his actors. And with that comes their own blind devotion to him.
6:49 p.m. - Joe says Bruce finally saw the complete movie the other night in his hotel room.
6:51 p.m. - JMS says he misses their lunches on the set together the most - because everyone used to rip on each other just like they are tonight.
6:53 p.m. - Someone asks if any of the actors have read the books. Peter, referring to the trilogy of books about Galen, says he didn't want to know too much about his character.
7:13 p.m. - Gah! My laptop died in the closing minutes. I'll add the rest (along with full quotes) from the transcript later tonight.
