The Middleman

The panel's description: "Creator and executive producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach (Lost) and The Middleman actors Matt Keeslar (Dune) and Natalie Morales (CSI: Miami) discuss the bizarre world of The Middleman. Based on the graphic novels by Javier Grillo-Marxuach, The Middleman follows the surreal life of twenty-something Wendy Watson as she gets recruited by a top secret agency to fight comic book-esque criminals under the guidance of her straight-laced boss, The Middleman. Room 5AB"

2:06 PM: They're running a little late... but hey it's Matt Keeslar and Javier Grillo-Marxuach!

2:07 PM: Natalie Morales has a taped message thanking the fans for their support. She also introduces a clip package from upcoming episodes.

2:11 PM: Javier jokes that he thinks their entire audience is here!

2:13 PM: Someone asks about the bleeped profanity on the show. Javier notes that the season finale will feature the most bleeped profanity to date.

2:14 PM: A fan complains about the show's time slot. Javi's response is that they gave them 17 million dollars to do the entire show, they can air it whenever they want.

2:17 PM: Javi says they'll be integrating pieces from the comic's third installment soon.

2:18 PM: Someone mentions Javi's work on "The Chronicle." Javi goes on to note he wrote "The Middleman" two years before he worked on that show.

2:20 PM: Matt's favorite "gee-golly"-esque dialogue from the show: "Mutual of Omaha!"

2:22 PM: A fan asks if "The Middleman" has an alter ego. Matt says they played with the idea a little bit but thought it would spoil the character's mystique.

2:25 PM: Javi cites Matt's performance in "The Last Days of Disco" as his first exposure to the actor.

2:28 PM: Fun fact: an ABC Family executive (?) says that 75,000 people watched the pilot pre-air off of iTunes.

2:31 PM: Let it be said - fans love Matt's work on the "Dune" mini-series.

2:34 PM: Javi says he's volunteered to record commentary on all the episodes for the DVD. He goes on to mention they've also taped each episode's read-through. He jokes that they've approached "Firefly" level of obsessive-ness in their efforts to make the coolest DVD ever. "I'd take $30 million to make a Middleman movie too," Javi jokes.

2:38 PM: Just a quick note - I will have to take off shortly to make it to the next panel.

2:39 PM: A fan calls "Middleman" the best series since "Buffy." Javi says that's the highest praise he can think of.

2:40 PM: Someone asks if they'll ever mock "Lost" like they have other pop culture films/TV shows. Javi says he thinks it's too soon - and he has too much respect for Carlton/Damon/etc. to do so while it's still going on.

2:43 PM: Season finale spoilers - Javi says the finale will take place in a "mirror" Middleman universe where Matt is the bad guy.

2:44 PM: Sorry kids, I have to jet. Hopefully nothing cool happens after I leave.
