When Lois and Hal kick Reese out of the house, he decides to get his own apartment so he can live like a responsible adult. Although no one else seems to care, Francis is appalled that his parents would kick another child out and makes it his mission to show his parents their behavior is immature and unacceptable. Meanwhile, Malcolm helps Ira, a not-so-smart star football player, write his college essay.
