"Advantage Play" -- Billy regrets going against his professional judgment when he learns that he may have put a young boxer's life at risk, on dr. vegas, Friday, Oct. 1 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Bryan Spicer directed the episode written by Jack Orman, one of the series' executive producers, and Craig Sweeny.
In a much-hyped, revenue-generating publicity stunt, Tommy schedules a middle-weight championship boxing match at the hotel which could launch a young, up-and-coming boxer's career. But when the young contender gets a cut near his eye before the fight, the much-anticipated event is in jeopardy. With intense pressure from Tommy, Billy reluctantly goes against his better judgment and hides the laceration so the fight can proceed. However, when the boxer's lab reports come back, Billy realizes that the fighter's health problems are more serious than just a cut on the face.
