60 MINUTES 37th SEASON PREMIERE FEATURES REPORTS ON
A CRUEL SCAM THAT PREYS ON SENIORS AND A PROFILE OF FOX NEWS PERSONALITY BILL OREILLY SUNDAY, SEPT. 26 ON CBS
60 MINUTES 37th season begins on a classic note with a Steve Kroft expose of a scam cruelly aimed at the elderly and a Mike Wallace profile of controversial cable news giant Bill OReilly. These stories, another to be determined, and a new Andy Rooney essay will be broadcast Sunday, Sept. 26 (7:00-8:00 PM, ET/PT) on 60 MINUTES 37th season premiere on the CBS Television Network.
Kroft goes to Montreal to investigate the kind of scam 60 MINUTES has set the standard for exposing. Prison sentences for telemarketing fraud are relatively short in Canada and scammers are taking advantage. Sometimes using just a cell phone and pager, theyre talking billions of dollars out of the pockets of mostly elderly U.S. citizens.
Wallace appears on his 37th straight 60 MINUTES premiere broadcast with an interview with OReilly -- the biggest star of the Fox News Channel.
Rooney weighs in with a new essay, his 870th for the broadcast, on the get-out-the-vote campaigns the public is bombarded with as the presidential election draws near.
