Samantha: An American Girl Holiday
"Samantha: An American Girl Holiday" - (TBA)
Tuesday , November 23 2004 Movie Event
8:00 - 10:00 PM ET

This holiday season, The WB will air its first made-for-television movie. Based on the popular American Girls Collection of dolls and books, "Samantha: An American Girl Holiday" stars Mia Farrow, AnnaSophia Robb, Kelsey Lewis, Jordan Bridges and Rebecca Mader.

The movie brings to life the story of Samantha Parkington, an orphan girl being raised by her wealthy grandmother in 1904. Samantha is one of the three original American Girl characters, as well as the most popular doll in the collection.

This heartwarming family drama follows the adventures of 9-year-old Samantha (AnnaSophia Robb, star of the upcoming feature films "Because of Winn-Dixie" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory") who lives with her wealthy grandmother (Mia Farrow, "Rosemary's Baby," "Hannah and Her Sisters") in Mount Bedford, New York. When a poor family comes to work as servants for the family next door, Samantha is delighted to find that one of the girls, Nellie O'Malley (Kelsey Lewis, "Curb Your Enthusiasm"), is her age. Unconcerned with the social code of the day, Samantha quickly forms a close friendship with Nellie and her two little sisters.

Bringing to life the bygone era of refined country living, as well as the hustle and bustle of New York City at the turn of the twentieth century, the film explores the girls¿ different worlds and the changes and challenges they face together. When the death of Nellie's father leads to the three O'Malley girls being sent to an orphanage, Samantha refuses to give up her friend and plots the sisters' dramatic escape. In the end, Samantha, Nellie and her sisters all find a home and a family they can call their own.

Jordan Bridges ("Mona Lisa Smile") stars as Samantha's beloved Uncle Gard, and Rebecca Mader ("All My Children") plays Aunt Cornelia.

From Revolution Studios, Red Om Films and American Girl in association with Warner Bros. Television Production Inc. with executive producers Ellen Brothers, Nancy Bennett, Rachael Horovitz ("Little Black Book," "About Schmidt"), Lisa Gillan, Deborah Schindler ("Maid in Manhattan," "Mona Lisa Smile," "Little Black Book"), Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas ("Maid in Manhattan," "Mona Lisa Smile," "Little Black Book") and Julia Roberts ("Stepmom").
