CBS SKATES INTO PRIME TIME AS OLAY PRESENTS ICE WARS 2004: USA VS. THE WORLD ON FRIDAY, DEC. 3 FOR THE 11 CONSECUTIVE YEAR

OLAY PRESENTS ICE WARS 2004: USA VS. THE WORLD returns to the CBS Television Network for the 11th consecutive year on Friday, Dec. 3 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT). Featuring the top U.S. and international professional figure skaters, the team competition is headlined by Olympic gold medalists Brian Boitano, Kristi Yamaguchi, Alexei Yagudin and Oksana Baiul.

Each team features four skaters per team: two women and two men. The USA team is led by 11-year Ice Wars veteran and 1988 Olympic gold medalist Boitano, 1992 Olympic gold medalist Yamaguchi, 1995 U.S. national champion Nicole Bobek, and 1996 world champion Todd Eldredge.

Competing for the World team will be 2002 Olympic gold medalist Yagudin (RUS), four-time world champion Kurt Browning (CAN), 1994 Olympic gold medalist Baiul (UKR), and 1994 world champion Yuka Sato (JPN).

Each team member skates two programs, including a technical and artistic performance. A panel of professional judges awards the marks with the individual scores being added together for a team total. Each skaters first program scores are worth one-third and their second program totals are worth two-thirds of their overall score. The team with the highest score is the winner.

Verne Lundquist and Tracy Wilson provide commentary with Tracy Wolfson reporting. Ken Mack serves as producer, Bob Fishman directs. The event was taped on Nov. 18 at the North Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, S.C.
