THE TEAM RECEIVES AN ANONYMOUS LETTER INFORMING THEM THE ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF A SWIM COACH AT A MILITARY ACADEMY WAS THE RESULT OF A CAREFULLY ORCHESTRATED PLAN, ON A REBROADCAST OF "COLD CASE," ON A SPECIAL NIGHT, THURSDAY, DEC. 30

"The Plan" -- The team receives an anonymous letter informing them that the 1999 accidental death of a tough yet highly respected swim coach at a military academy was the result of a carefully orchestrated plan, on a rebroadcast of COLD CASE, on a special night, Thursday, Dec. 30 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Agnieszka Holland directed the episode from a script by Veena Sud. (Originally broadcast 5/2/04)

As they re-investigate the death of Nash Cavanaugh, Rush and Valens discover the teacher was known to drink with select students, one of whom, Jerry Kasher, comes forward and takes responsibility for both his killing and writing the letter. However, the detectives quickly realize Jerry is lying and is one of several boys with whom Nash not only drank, but also sexually abused. Shortly thereafter, Rush and Valens track down two other students who, in fact, suffered the same fate as Jerry and may also have been involved in the murder.
