Pamela Fryman directed the episode from a story by Chuck Lorre and Lee Aronsohn, two of the series� executive producers, and a teleplay by Jeff Abugov and Don Foster.

When Evelyn undermines Jake�s confidence by making light of his hard-earned �A� on a test, Alan decides to cut her out of their lives. But when Charlie and Alan receive news that Evelyn is in the hospital, they realize it�s a ploy to get back into their lives. They decide to play along, pretending to schedule her for heart surgery, but what they don�t realize is that Evelyn is still one step ahead of them.
