"SPRING BREAK SHARK ATTACK," THE "CBS SUNDAY MOVIE" TO BE BROADCAST MARCH 20 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK
Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award winner Kathy Baker ("Picket Fences"), Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award nominee Bryan Brown ("The Thorn Birds"), Shannon Lucio ("The O.C.") and Riley Smith ("New York Minute") star in SPRING BREAK SHARK ATTACK, a new television movie to be broadcast as the "CBS Sunday Movie," March 20 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. In the thriller, a group of killer sharks invades the waters off the Florida coast as a beach-full of swimsuit-clad co-eds enjoy their spring break.
vDanielle (Lucio), a young college girl, lies to her parents about her spring break plans in order to sneak away to the beautiful and fun-filled Florida beaches with her two best friends. Soon after she arrives, she meets and falls for Shane (Smith), a handsome, young, blue-collar local working to raise money for college.
While on vacation, Danielle seeks out her brother, Charlie (Wayne Thornley), a graduate student at the Florida Maritime Institute, who is working on a thesis on tiger sharks. Charlie cautions his sister to stay out of the water because he suspects that a large concentration of the predators are in the area, due to a new artificial reef that was built to attract tourism.
Caught up in the spring break fun, Danielle forgets her brother's warning. However, she is brutally reminded while on an overnight boat trip, when she and her friends are viciously attacked by a group of sharks. As they find their way to safety on an islet, the reality of the danger they are in hits them even harder when the body of a friend washes ashore.
Now, as hundreds of hungry tiger sharks invade the waters filled with spring breakers, the entire area is in jeopardy unless they can be stopped. Shane thinks he knows how to stop the sharks, but he must carry out his plan before too many are dead, while also trying to survive himself.
Kathy Baker plays Mary, Shane's mother and the owner of a boat chartering business in town. Bryan Brown plays Joel Gately, a devious beach club owner who, unbeknownst to Mary, uses her boats to improve his own business in a way that will yield catastrophic results.
