Kirsten Dickson, a recently widowed young mother of two, has had no choice but to take on the roles of both mother and father. While working full-time, she must also tend to her two mourning children. Even though Kirsten has been very careful to give them the space they need, their difficult behavior and lack of respect for their struggling mother have become too much for her to handle.
