Christine Lahti (who starred in the "Pilot's Wife," the highest-rated single-part television movie of 2001-2002) and Daniel Baldwin ("Homicide: Life on the Streets") star in OPEN HOUSE, a television movie to be rebroadcast as the "CBS Sunday Movie," Sunday, July 10 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. The off-beat love story, about a woman who is starting her life over and falls in love with the most unlikely of men, also stars Academy Award-winners Eva Marie Saint ("On the Waterfront," 1954) and Rita Moreno ("West Side Story," 1961), as well as Chris Potter ("The Big House"). Designer Colin Cowie ("Everyday Elegance") appears as himself. (Originally broadcast 2/16/03)

Samantha Morrow (Lahti), a devoted wife and mother, is devastated when her husband, David (Potter), walks out on her and her son leaving her to pick up the pieces and start over again. Determined to keep the only home her son has ever known, Samantha decides to take in boarders to make ends meet.

Lydia (Moreno), a free-spirited woman experiencing love a second time around, becomes Samantha's first boarder. While Lydia is moving in, Samantha is introduced to the mover, King (Baldwin), a heavy-set blue collar worker with a warm disposition and big heart. There is an immediate spark between the two of them, but Samantha ignores it. Despite her reluctance to face her feelings, Samantha and King begin to forge a friendship after King directs Samantha to a job agency.

Samantha also welcomes another boarder, Lavender Blue, (Grace Lynn Kung), a teenage girl who has run away from an unhappy home. Another constant presence in Samantha's life is her mother Veronica (Saint), a flashy and vibrant woman who offers sage advice as her daughter begins to live again.

Colin Cowie is seen as himself as Samantha tries to emulate his perfect style.

The film is based on the New York Times best-selling book Open House by Elizabeth Berg, which was also an "Oprah" book selection in 2000.

OPEN HOUSE was produced by The Sanitsky Company, in association with Carlton America. Emmy-nominated producer Larry Sanitsky ("The Last Don" and "Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All") and Emmy Award-winner Dana Delany ("China Beach," 1989 and 1982) are the executive producers. Arvin Brown ("The Agency") directed the film from a script by Emmy-nominated Joyce Eliason ("The Last Don" and "Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tell All").
