"HAVE A NICE END OF THE WORLD..." WHEN THE WACKY SCI-FI COMEDY "EVOLUTION" HAS ITS NETWORK TELEVISION PREMIERE, THURSDAY, AUGUST 25 ON ABC

"Evolution," the rollicking sci-fi send-off featuring slimy blue aliens -- unlikely heroes -- and blue-goo mayhem in Glen Canyon, Arizona, will have its network television premiere THURSDAY, AUGUST 25 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. Airing in HDTV with 5.1-channel surround sound and Spanish audio, the "ABC Thursday Movie of the Week" stars David Duchovony, Julianne Moore, Orlando Jones, Sean William Scott and Ted Levine.

When Wayne Grey (Sean William Scott), a firefighter in training, witnesses a meteorite crashing down in Glen Canyon, Arizona, his life quickly spirals into utter chaos. Dr. Ira Kane (David Duchovony) and Professor Harry Phineas Block (Orlando Jones) arrive to investigate, and discover that the rock contains a fascinating blue substance that they soon realize is... aliens. Multiplying at an incredible rate, these creatures begin spreading to cities, prompting the military to become involved. Without a clue about how to stop them, will our world as we know it come to an end... or will someone come up with a cure for this cosmic case of the biohazard blues?

Starring in the film is David Duchovony (TV Series "The X-Files," "Zoolander") as Dr. Ira Kane, Julianne Moore ("The Forgotten," "Laws of Attraction") as Dr. Allison Reed, Orlando Jones ("Runaway Jury," "Drumline") as Professor Harry Phineas Block, Sean William Scott ("Dukes of Hazzard," "The Rundown") as Wayne Grey and Ted Levine ("Birth," "The Manchurian Candidate") as General Russell Woodman.

"Evolution" is directed by Ivan Reitman ("Six Days Seven Nights," "Ghostbusters"). Writing credits are given to Don Jakoby ("Vampires," "Arachnophobia") for the story and to David Diamond ("The Family Man," "Below Utopia") for the screenplay. The film is produced by The Montecito Picture Company and is distributed by Dream Works.

"EVOLUTION" IN HDTV:
The ABC Television Network's HDTV broadcast of "Evolution" will air in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format with 5.1-channel surround and also in Spanish.
