RUSH AND THE TEAM OPEN THE 1988 CASE INVOLVING A TEENAGER WHO WAS KILLED ON THE SAME NIGHT HIS DAUGHTER WAS BORN, ON THE THIRD SEASON PREMIERE OF "COLD CASE," SUNDAY, SEPT. 25

Sarah Brown ("General Hospital") Guest Stars as Det. Josie Sutton

"Family" -- When a young girl, Anya, tells Rush she has been contacted by a man who claims to be her father, the team re-investigates the murder of Jimmy, a teenager killed on the night of her birth, on the third season premiere of COLD CASE, Sunday, Sept. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Mark Pellington directed the episode that was written by Creator and Executive Producer Meredith Stiehm

Rush and Valens question Anya's mother, Quinn, who gave birth at the prom and was in love with Jimmy, but didn't know what to do when he left her that night. Despite the claim that there's no one else who could be the father, Vera and Jeffries quickly find out that's not necessarily true. In fact, they learn from Quinn that when Jimmy told the coach they were keeping the baby, the coach cast doubt as to whether Jimmy was the father. Now, Anya has disappeared with the man claiming to be her father and Rush and Valens are on the hunt. Meanwhile, the team has mixed feelings about new detective, Josie Sutton (guest star Sarah Brown), joining them, as she arrives under a cloud of suspicion regarding a sex scandal with her former sergeant.

COLD CASE is a drama about Lilly Rush (Morris), a lone female detective in the Philadelphia homicide squad, who finds her niche when she's assigned to "cold cases" -- crimes that have never been solved. Previously, she used her instinctive understanding of the criminal mind on current murders. Now, she's interrogating witnesses of yester-crimes whose lives and circumstances have since changed, making use of today's new science and finding fresh clues to solve cases that were previously unsolvable -- all of which appeals to this smart, driven detective. She's also prepared for the consequences -- that her work will open up old wounds and may lead suspects to commit new crimes. When she hits a dead end, Rush seeks advice from her respected mentor, Lt. John Stillman. Also on the team are Det. Scotty Valens Rush's arrogant partner; Det. Will Jeffries who's been around long enough to serve as Lilly's link to the past, and Det. Nick Vera a tough cop who's considered the go-to guy for getting a confession. Now, Rush sees her new assignment as a turning point in her career when she decides to make it her business to make sure that no victim is ever forgotten.

COLD CASE is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television, in association with Warner Bros. Productions and CBS Productions. Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Meredith Stiehm are the executive producers.
