STONE PHILLIPS INTERVIEWS EVA LONGORIA - FRIDAY, SEPT. 23

EVA LONGORIA TELLS NBC'S STONE PHILLIPS "I'M DESPARATE TO BE A HOUSEWIFE" -- FRIDAY, SEPT. 23 ON "DATELINE NBC"

NEW YORK -- September 21, 2005 -- Eva Longoria welcomes NBC's Stone Phillips into her home for some homemade enchiladas and to discuss life outside her popular primetime show. The highly visible 30-year-old actress shares with Phillips what it's like to constantly be in the press, how her ambitions and success are a result of hardships experienced and important lessons learned along the way from Texas to Los Angeles, and what she hopes the future has in store for her. The interview will be broadcast on Friday, Sept. 23 at 8 PM/ET on "Dateline NBC."

Below are excerpts from the interview:

RE: What she has in common with her television character:

Longoria: The things we have in common are our ambition and our drive and we want what we want when we want it. And I think I've been like that in my life. We're very unsimiliar in the family ties. She hates children and I want ten. She, you know, married for money- I would never marry for money and she's materialistic. I'm not.

RE: Why those racy scenes on screen are hard for her to do:

Longoria: It's really hard for me and I'll tell you why. Because I think kissing is way more intimate than sex. I think kissing someone that you care about is a way more personal gesture. So for me to kiss somebody I'm not in love with is hard.

RE: Her tendency to talk openly about sex in the press:

Phillips: Has sex always been something that you have that you talked about...freely, openly?

Longoria: No...I mean I guess maybe it's been comfortable with me and my friends, or me and my girlfriends, or me and my sisters. But I truly forget that I'm on this big show and I have to, unfortunately as much as I hate to censor myself, I should.

Phillips: But you believe what you're saying?

Longoria: I do believe what I'm saying but it doesn't mean everybody's going to agree with it...

RE: On being a housewife to her boyfriend, San Antonio Spur, Tony Parker:

Phillips: Do you want to get married?

Longoria: ...I would love to see what happens with Tony. I would absolutely love to, you know. I would love to be that person in the proper way, you know? I want the engagement and the wedding and the kids and the family, I'm desperate to be a housewife.
