Ginyard Family -- Ty and the gang will help turn the hazardous home of Veronica Ginyard and her eight children in Capitol Heights, Maryland into home sweet home, on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
Veronica and her family have had a life of adversity and struggle. Having bought the first and only home she could afford, Veronica raises her eight children including two sets of twins in a home that would be cramped for a family of four, let alone nine. A strong woman, she is determined to raise her children in a safe and loving home, keeping them off the streets and away from violence for good. But the house isnt much of a safe haven.
The extremely hazardous Ginyard home has exposed live wires sticking out of the drywall, mold from constant flooding in their basement and holes in the walls and ceilings. The kids have to sleep in makeshift bedrooms in the basement and the attic. Veronica works two jobs just to make ends meet and uses public transportation to travel to and from work, as her run down car sits in the driveway. The house, the struggle to pay the bills and the years of stress has taken a toll on her, but despite everything, this hard working single mom is determined to provide the best life for her family.
In this episode, the design team will have to work hard to bring this house up to code so that it is finally the safe home Veronica and her kids deserve. While the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition design team, contractors and hundreds of workers and volunteers, along with the local builder Somerset Homes, are transforming the hazardous house into a home with more space for this large and loving family, the Ginyards enjoyed a vacation at Walt Disney World.
In addition, Grammy-winning singing superstar Patti LaBelle makes an appearance and performs at a candlelight vigil outside the Ginyards new home.
Plus, theres a new addition to the design family! Interior designer and furniture maker Daniel Kucan brings his energy and expertise to the design team this season. Born in Las Vegas, NV, Daniels dramatic design style comes from his background in theater, where his personal stamp of interiors and carpentry first took shape. Combining a strong sense of tradition with an urban mentality, his creations take on a fresh and personal vibe that makes each one a distinct and unconventional work of originality.
The design team for this episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will feature team leader Ty Pennington, Michael Moloney, Paige Hemmis, Daniel Kucan and Eduardo Xol.
The series is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. Its executive-produced by Tom Forman and co-executive produced by Denise Cramsey.
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is broadcast with Spanish subtitles via secondary closed captioning. This program carries a TV-PG parental guideline.
