REAL ESTATE THE UPS AND DOWNS OF OWNING A HOME, ON ABC NEWS 20/20, FRIDAY, MAY 5

Whether it is a dream or becomes a nightmare, owning a home is a persons biggest investment. 20/20 looks at real estate from the ups and downs to the downright eerie, FRIDAY, MAY 5 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on ABC. Reports include:

Flipping The act of flipping, buying a home with the sole intention of quickly selling it for profit, became commonplace in Florida in the past few years with the real estate boom. 20/20 checks in with people profiled last year to see if their Florida investments were paying off, even though the market has softened. Elizabeth Vargas reports.

Dr. Disaster Imagine having to sell a house that has been stigmatized by shocking crimes and catastrophes. As Martin Bashir reports, there is a man who specializes in helping sell such places as the condo on Bundy drive where Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman were found brutally murdered, and the house were Charles Manson and his followers murdered eight-month-pregnant actress Sharon Tate. Nicole Brown Simpsons sister, Denise Brown, as well as the man who owned the Sharon Tate home, both tell Bashir the hardships of selling a tainted property.

The Ultimate Gamble Self-proclaimed king of mega mansions Frank McKinney is taking the biggest risk imaginable by building multi-million dollar estates entirely on speculation. McKinney gives Bashir a tour of his outlandish masterpieces, and shows him a model of his latest a $125 million mansion.

Neighbor Nightmares A fence too high? Cameras next door documenting your every move? JuJu Chang explores real life neighbor nightmares, including the highly publicized decade-long feud between Jim Belushi and Julie Newmar. That dispute had a happy Hollywood ending, but as Chang reports, sometimes the end result can be deadly.

Pimp My House In real estate, some seek to tweak their space to suit their style. So owners looking to live the good life and not worry about resale values tell their builders and designers to pimp my house -- from a retired NBS player who supersized his South Florida house to a San Diego couple who have spent years reconfiguring their house for the amusement of their cats. Chris Connelly reports.

20/20 is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and John Stossel. David Sloan is the executive producer.
