In 1953, Katherine Watson (Julia Roberts), a free-spirited college graduate, lands her dream job as an art teacher at the prestigious all-girls Wellesley College. Determined to confront the outdated mores of society and the institution that embraces them, Katherine inspires her traditional students to challenge the lives they are expected to lead.
