Professional Photographers Helping to Get Foster Children Placed in Homes

Thousands of high school students visit the Gulf of Mexico resort city of Cancun, Mexico during spring break and after graduation for �senior week� to enjoy the beautiful beaches and lots of fun in the sun. In fact, many tour companies offer packages that include unlimited alcohol. But how safe is this popular destination? As ABC News Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross reports, a rape victim and human rights workers are sounding a warning about the dark side of the popular resort. �People need to know that these kinds of things happen,� said Suzanne Lewers of California, who was raped in Cancun on her �senior week� by someone posing as a Mexican police officer. �It was rape after rape after rape,� she said. Brian Ross� exclusive report airs on �20/20,� FRIDAY, JUNE 2 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

It took two years before Cancun police or Mexican justice caught up with the rapist, who is accused of raping at least a dozen other tourists after Suzanne. �I think anyone who becomes a victim of a sexual attack in Mexico should not have very high hopes of seeing justice done,� Daniel Wilkinson of Human Rights Watch told ABC News. Cancun authorities never made public that a serial rapist was preying on foreign tourists. The current U.S. State Department travel information sheet for Mexico warns there have been �a significant number of rapes in Cancun.� A spokesperson for Cancun�s Municipal Tourism Management Office said that Cancun is safe and is a first class resort and fun spot for families and couples.

Emerging from a bitter custody fight with actor Harvey Keitel over their daughter, she was millions of dollars in debt and her career had tanked. It was a crash at the end of a string of high voltage and disastrous romances. At 51 Bracco keeps nothing back when she talks to ABC News Correspondent Deborah Roberts about her revealing new book, On the Couch. She tells Roberts that the custody battle broke her �in more ways than one. Broke me financially, broke me emotionally, devastated me� stopped my life.�

Plus: As a part of ABC News� report on the crisis of the foster care system, �20/20� looks at the thriving program to help get foster children placed for adoption by having professionals photograph them. As Bob Brown reports, in cities throughout America, art galleries and public spaces have mounted exhibitions of children�s portraits taken by some of the world�s most famous and best-paid photographers. They are all working for nothing, using their talents to bring out qualities that otherwise might have gone undiscovered in children who are in foster care, hoping to be adopted by a family.

The project, which has gained so much momentum that its founder prefers to call it a movement, is called the Heart Gallery. There are more than 60 Heart Gallery organizations in 45 states, and in some places the adoption rate after an exhibit is more than double the nationwide rate of adoption from foster care.
