Emmy Award Nominee Ricki Lake Hosts the Nostalgic Revival of Classic Game Shows
Emmy Award nominee Ricki Lake hosts celebrities as they play "Beat the Clock" on GAMESHOW MARATHON, a new series where classic game shows are played by celebrity contestants, Wednesday, June 7 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
In the third episode, the celebrity contestants compete in "Beat the Clock." Paige Davis ("Trading Spaces"), Tim Meadows ("Saturday Night Live"), Kathy Najimy ("Sister Act") and Leslie Nielsen ("Airplane") work to beat the clock playing fan favorites "Baby Slide," "Bottle Caps," "Balloon Catcher" and "Hat Stunt" as they vie for a slot on "Finalist Row." After winning in the second episode, Lance Bass ("'N Sync") joined Brande Roderick ("Baywatch") on "Finalist Row," where the winners from each episode wait to play in the final game show.
"Beat the Clock" premiered in 1950 and was hosted by Bud Collyer until 1961. In 2002, The Game Show Network resurrected the show. It is currently hosted by Gary Kroeger.
GAMESHOW MARATHON features six celebrity contestants competing in a weekly elimination-style tournament in which they play different classic game shows during each episode. Future episodes include, "Press Your Luck," "Card Sharks," "Match Game" and "Family Feud." A champion will be crowned at the end of the series. In addition, the program will include a viewer participation element whereby they will have a chance to win the celebrity's grand prize each episode through a wireless (text message) trivia game that enters viewers into a sweepstakes.
GAMESHOW MARATHON is produced by FremantleMedia North America and Granada Entertainment USA. Cecile Frot-Cruz, Paul Jackson and Stuart Krasnow are executive producers.
