"MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE II," STARRING TOM CRUISE, DOUGRAY SCOTT AND THANDIE NEWTON, TO BE REBROADCAST SATURDAY, JULY 8 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE II, the 2000 action thriller starring Tom Cruise ("Minority Report") as Ethan Hunt, an IMF (Impossible Missions Force) agent who is sent to intercept samples of a deadly virus and its antidote before it gets in the hands of corrupt ex-IMF agent Sean Ambrose, (Dougray Scott "Ever After"), to be rebroadcast Saturday, July 8 (9:00-11:38 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. (Originally broadcast 9/29/02)

Ex-secret agent Sean Ambrose (Scott) plots to take control of a deadly virus and its antidote from a pharmaceutical laboratory in Sydney and unleash the disease and cure on an unwitting public, getting rich in the process from the company's stock. Hoping to thwart the evil plan, IMF leader Swanbeck (Anthony Hopkins, Academy Award winner for "The Silence of the Lambs"), dispatches his top agent Ethan Hunt to retrieve the deadly virus and stop the plan before it's too late.

Swanbeck orders the agent to recruit Ambrose's old girlfriend, Nyah Nordoff-Hall (Thandie Newton "Beloved"), to spy for the agency. Hunt also brings along an old buddy, Luther (Ving Rhames "Con Air," "Pulp Fiction"), and a new Aussie cohort (John Polson "The Boys"). Complications occur when Hunt unexpectedly falls hard for Nyah and saving her life becomes as important as saving the world.

John Woo ("Face Off") directed the film, which was written by Ronald D. Moore, Brannon Braga, Robert Towne and adapted from Bruce Gellar's television series. Terence Chang, Paul Hitchcock, and Amy Stevens are the executive producers, Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner are the producers and Michael Doven is the associate producer of the 2000 Paramount Pictures theatrical release.
