"SHARK: MIND OF A DEMON WITH FABIEN COUSTEAU," A NEW ENTERTAINMENT SPECIAL FROM THE GRANDSON OF FAMED OCEANOGRAPHER JACQUES YVES COUSTEAU THAT GIVES AN UNPRECEDENTED LOOK AT THE LIFE OF THE GREAT WHITE SHARK, TO BE BROADCAST JUNE 28 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK

SHARK: MIND OF A DEMON WITH FABIEN COUSTEAU, a new entertainment special from the grandson of famed oceanographer Jacques Yves Cousteau that gives a unique and unprecedented up-close look at the life of the great white shark, will be broadcast Wednesday, June 28 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Fabien Cousteau believed that the great white shark was much maligned and misunderstood and so decided to find a way to dispel those beliefs by becoming a shark himself. With a team that includes his sister, Celine, Peter Brown, a dedicated environmental activist, Mark Marks, a biologist and shark expert and stuntman/designer Eddie Paul, he built a shark submersible that looks, acts and moves like a shark.

Scientists around the world have spent millions of dollars trying to replicate the mechanics of fish propulsion. Eddie Paul succeeded where they had failed -- designing a unique system to propel the shark for hours without releasing any bubbles or making any noise. The crew used a state of the art material known as skin flex that transformed the stainless steel submersible into a great white shark.

Filming took place over a two-year period in the deep waters off Isla Guadalupe, on the Pacific coast of Mexico, where the team launched their mechanical shark. Inside it, Cousteau was able to be next to great white sharks in the most treacherous waters imaginable, their favorite feeding ground. In this remarkable experiment, Fabien Cousteau takes adventure and exploration to the edge of disaster, but comes away with a journey of exploration his grandfather would have been very proud of, 50 years after Jacques Yves Cousteau's own first network television special.

Fabien Cousteau follows the legacy of his renowned grandfather on whose ships he was part of the crew. He holds a degree in environmental economics from Boston University. With his father, Jean-Michel, he continues to carry on the tradition of adventure and exploration in the deep ocean that was pioneered by Jacques Yves Cousteau.
