TNTs dramatic Monday line-up continues with the networks top-notch original series THE CLOSER and SAVED continue Monday, July 3. This week, THE CLOSERs lead character, Brenda Leigh Johnson (Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Kyra Sedgwick) gets cooking after a woman is found murdered at a posh L.A. restaurant at 9 p.m. (ET/PT). And on SAVED at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), Wyatt Cole (Tom Everett Scott) and his fellow paramedics must deal with a heavy fog thats wreaking havoc on the city while their personal relationships continue to face difficult challenges.
THE CLOSERs premiere episode on Monday, June 12, scored ad-supported cables largest audience delivery ever for an original scripted series telecast, beating its own record set with the premiere episode of season one, according to data from Nielsen Media Research. Meanwhile, SAVED scored big in its premiere, ranking as ad-supported cables top new original scripted series debut of the year.
SAVED Fog
Directed by Darnell Martin, Written by Ann Hamilton
Wyatt Cole (Scott) attempts to teach his paramedic partner John Sack Hallon (Omari Hardwick Beauty Shop, Sucker Free City) how to play poker. But his teaching skills fall to deaf ears, and Sack loses a big bet, forcing the two to transport a demanding young liver transplant patient named Lexi to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Angela de la Cruz (Tracy Vilar The Steve Harvey Show, ER) is excited about going on a cruise, but her plans are thwarted unexpectedly. Only later does her fellow paramedic, newbie EMT Harper Sims (Michael McMillian What I Like About You, Firefly), discover the real reason, as well as an important aspect of Angelas personal life.
A treacherous fog descends on Portland, and Wyatt and Sack are called to a pile-up on the highway, where they rescue a young girl and her mother. The girl is a beauty-pageant contestant, and her mother is primarily concerned over whether her daughters injuries will leave scars. The EMTs are also called to assist a crane operator who is experiencing chest pains while stuck in his crane, and Wyatt and Sack must risk their lives to climb up to save him.
Angela and Harper receive several calls to help out a homeless man named Smelly Bill, who is normally outside of their response territory. Angela suspects that a rival EMT, Kroll, is putting Bill in her territory, so she hatches a perfect plan for revenge.
Sacks son continues to have problems in school, prompting Wyatt to secretly arrange for the boy to have an interview with Wyatts mother, Dr. Victoria Cole (Lisa Banes Boston Legal, The Unit), a psychologist. Her examination of the boy, however, reveals that his problems have nothing to do with any kind of learning disability.
Back at the emergency room at Good Samaritan Hospital, Wyatts ex-girlfriend Dr. Alice Alden (Elizabeth Reaser The Family Stone) treats transplant patient Lexi, who insists on prying into her personal life and her relationship with Wyatt, leading Alice to come to terms with her feelings and decide where her heart lies.
