Turner Network Television (TNT)s chilling, all-star television event NIGHTMARES & DREAMSCAPES: FROM THE STORIES OF STEPHEN KING continues Wednesday, July 19, with intriguing adaptations of Umneys Last Case, starring Emmy winner and Oscar nominee William H. Macy (Fargo, TNTs Door to Door and The Wool Cap) and Jacqueline McKenzie (The 4400, Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood), and The End of the Whole Mess, featuring Golden Globe nominee Ron Livingston (Band of Brothers, The Cooler) and Golden Globe nominee Henry Thomas (E.T. This four-week collection of eight mind-bending tales comes to TNT from Bill Habers Ostar Productions, with Haber (The Uprising, Jack and the Bean Stalk: The True Story, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow) serving as executive producer. The series producers include Mike Robe, Jeffrey Hayes and John McMahon.

In Umneys Last Case, Macy plays Clyde Umney, a noir-ish gumshoe whose world is coming unraveled with the arrival of Sam Landry, the man who created Umney in a series of popular crime novels. The death of Landrys son has made him so desperate to lead a different life, he has literally tried to escape reality by entering the world of his creation. As Landry tries to find his way in Umneys world, Umney is transported to Landrys world, where Landrys distraught wife (McKenzie) is not completely unpleased with her new husband. The teleplay for Umneys Last Case was written by April Smith (The Taking of Pelham One Two Three) based on the short story by Stephen King, with Rob Bowman (Reign of Fire, Elektra) directing.

The End of the Whole Mess tells the story of two brothers, one a filmmaker, Howie Fornoy (Livingston), and the other a brilliant scientist, Bobby Fornoy (Thomas). After bobby creates a special formula that could put an end to violence around the world, all hell breaks loose. Howie then takes camera in hand to attempt to chronicle the events before its too late. This beautifully acted thriller features a teleplay by Lawrence D. Cohen (Carrie, Stephen Kings It) based on the short story by Stephen King. It was directed by Mikael Salomon (TNTs Salems Lot and upcoming The Company).
