GET OFF THE STREETS THROUGH MUSIC AND CHARITY PROGRAMS
Noyola Family -- The Noyola family of Chicago, IL, who have been living in their grandmothers cramped attic, will be the next recipients of a home of their own built by Ty and the gang in a remarkable seven days, on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, airing SUNDAY, JANUARY 14 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Geno Noyola had a rough past with drugs and gangs, but turned his life around to become a community leader, along with his wife, Melinda. Understanding the dangers of the streets, Geno and Melinda have worked diligently to provide their children with the tools for success. Not only have they provided positive outlets for their own family, they have also done the same for other children in their community through their volunteer work with the Angel Tree Network program for kids who have parents in prison; the Pilsen Athletic conference, where they coach 103 children in sports throughout the year, keeping them out of trouble and off the streets; and Operation Christmas Child, where they send shoe boxes filled with gifts and treats to underprivileged children in Third-World countries. But the heart and soul of this passionate Latin American family is music. All six of the children have learned to play the violin, and five attended the prestigious Merit School of Music. Although they have to borrow from their school because they cannot afford their own instruments, playing violin has enabled these children to dream and hope for better things to come. In addition the entire family is involved with sports, cheerleading and bible study.
While the Noyolas have been busy helping others, they have been trying to purchase a home of their own, which finally happened three months ago, when a deal went through. But their home, which is a block away from their grandmothers home, where they currently live, is completely unlivable. None of the bathrooms work, and there is structural decay, water damage and rodent infestation.
In this episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the sound of hope, dreams and good things to come will play as the Noyolas are finally able to move into their new home.
While Ty and the designers, local builder Norcon Inc., and hundreds of volunteers and workers are rebuilding their home as well as revamping their grandmothers home, the Noyola family will go on vacation to Walt Disney World. The design team for this episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will feature team leader Ty Pennington and designers Michael Moloney, Paige Hemmis, Ed Sanders and Eduardo Xol.
The series is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. Its executive-produced by Denise Cramsey.
