"60 MINUTES" TO BROADCAST AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE JOHN MCCAIN WHILE IN IRAQ THAT INCLUDES FOOTAGE OF HIS CONTROVERSIAL TRIP TO A BAGHDAD MARKET -- SUNDAY ON CBS

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) gave Scott Pelley an exclusive interview and allowed 60 MINUTES cameras to accompany him on a trip to inspect security conditions in a Baghdad market for a report about the candidate's presidential campaign to be broadcast on 60 MINUTES, Sunday, April 8 (7:00-8:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

In the interview conducted in Iraq, McCain addresses his visit to a Baghdad market last Sunday protected by an entourage of military security that drew controversy when he declared that safety conditions at the market had improved due to the president's increase in troops.

McCain will also answer questions on his candidacy, including criticism of the way the war was conducted, his belief the surge is working, what he thinks will happen if the U.S. pulls out of Iraq, the impact on his campaign if the surge does not work, and his reaction to criticism that he has changed positions on issues.
