"EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION" HELPS A FAMILY OF FOUR
WHO SACRIFICED EVERYTHING AND TOOK IN FIVE NIECES AND
NEPHEWS TO KEEP THEM OUT OF THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM
The Jacobo family of Kansas City, MO will receive a new home from Ty and the gang that will accommodate their nine children, on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," SUNDAY, MAY 13 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Michelle and Jesus Jacobo are hard-working parents that have sacrificed everything to keep their family together. In addition to having four children of their own, they took in their five nieces and nephews after Michelle's sister lost custody of the children. The Jacobos made room for them in their small home so that they wouldn't be lost to the foster care system. Michelle's father, Grandpa Ray, is also living in the house and helping raise the nine children, who range in age from 6 months to 18 years.
Jesus tries his best to provide for his family by working over 80 hours a week as an assembler of cranes. Michelle, who is pre-diabetic and has recently been diagnosed with high cholesterol, is a hard-working housewife. Both Jesus and Michelle sacrifice their own comfort by sleeping in their unheated garage. Three of the boys live in a basement hallway that is often flooded from the laundry room, and Grandpa Ray, who suffers from severe hip problems, sleeps on the hard floor. In one of the bedrooms, where there is no heat, it gets so cold that there's ice on the walls.
Since the Jacobo home is crumbling, the family is in danger of having their nieces and nephews taken away because of the condition of their home. In this episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," Ty and the gang will fix up the home so they can all stay together.
While Ty and the designers, local builder Kevin Green Homes and hundreds of volunteers and workers are rebuilding their home in just seven days, the Jacobo family will go on vacation at Hilton Fort Lauderdale.
The design team for this episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" will feature team leader Ty Pennington and designers Michael Moloney, Paige Hemmis, Eduardo Xol and Tanya McQueen. The series is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. It's executive-produced by Denise Cramsey. David Goldberg is the president of Endemol USA.
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is broadcast with Spanish subtitles via secondary closed captioning. This program carries a TV-PG parental guideline.
