A CBS News primetime special anchored by Katie Couric -- FLASHPOINT: KIMBERLY DOZIER AND THE ARMY'S FOURTH ID -- A STORY OF BRAVERY, RECOVERY AND LIVES FOREVER CHANGED, will be broadcast on Tuesday, May 29 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
The program marks one year to the day that a car bomb in Baghdad killed CBS News cameraman Paul Douglas and soundman James Brolan, as well as Army Capt. James Funkhouser and his Iraqi translator. It also severely injured CBS News Correspondent Kimberly Dozier and several members of the Army's Fourth ID.
Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) are responsible for roughly half of the American combat deaths in Iraq. The CBS News special will examine the devastating impact of just one IED on one day in Baghdad and how so many lives were forever changed. The hour tells stories of loss, heroism, pain, guilt, anger and, ultimately, recovery. This is the story of the war in Iraq.
FLASHPOINT will be broadcast with only one network sponsor and limited commercial interruptions.
Paul Ryan, Michael McHugh and Chris Young are the producers of the program, Judy Tygard is the senior producer and Susan Zirinsky is the executive producer.
