Emmitt Smith, The NFL's All-Time Rushing Leader Guest Stars

"Monday Night Football" -- When a funeral prevents the gang from watching the Super Bowl live, the group makes a pact not to find out who won before watching the game together the following night, on a rebroadcast of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, Monday, July 2 (9:30-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Rob Greenberg directed the episode written by two of the series' Executive Producers, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. (Originally broadcast 2/5/07)

Smith, a prolific running back in the NFL for 15 years, was a member of three Super Bowl champion teams (1993, 1994 and 1996) with the Dallas Cowboys and was regular season and Super Bowl MVP in 1993. He will play himself in the episode when a star-struck Barney recognizes the former NFL great on the street.

When the group's grand Super Bowl Sunday plans fall through, Ted is determined to salvage the day and get everyone together to watch the game one day later. In what seems to be an impossible feat, Barney, Ted, Robin, Lily and Marshall try to get through the entire day without finding out the outcome of the biggest game of the year.
