"Jerry Was a Man" � The world's 7th richest woman, Martha Van Vogel ("MEN IN TREES" star Anne Heche), goes shopping for a few new genetically-engineered creatures for her menagerie. But her world is thrown into chaos when she befriends an anthropoid (Jason Diablo as Jerry) slated for "liquidation" and determines to take him home . . . even though his creator (Malcolm McDowell) has other plans, on "Masters of Science Fiction," SATURDAY, AUGUST 18 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

"Jerry Was a Man" stars Anne Heche as Martha Van Vogel, Malcolm McDowell as Cargrew, Russell Porter as Bronson, Jason Diablo as Jerry, Richard Ian Cox as Pudgy Dodge, Bill Dow as McCoy, Val Col as the anchorman, Osmond L. Bramble as the bailiff, Sonja Bennett as Judge Pomfrey, David Heale as Pyramus and Matty Finochio as judge #2.

Based on the classic story by Robert Heinlein, Michael Tolkin ("The Player," "The Rapture," "The Burning Season") directed from a script he wrote.

"Masters of Science Fiction" is filmed on location in Vancouver, B.C., and is from Starz Media, in association with Industry Entertainment and Reunion Pictures. John Hyde is executive producer for Starz Media. Industry Entertainment's Keith Addis, Brad Mendelsohn and Andrew Deane are executive producers. Sam Egan and Lisa Richardson are co-executive producers. Industry's Ben Browning and Adam Goldworm are co-producers.

The series is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1-channel surround sound and Spanish subtitles via secondary closed captioning. This program carries a TV-14,S,V parental guideline.
