NEW YORK, September 10, 2007 It's Sarah Silverman's world and we're all just spectators. Follow Sarah and the rest of the gang in what is totally the best second season ever as she becomes romantically involved with God and decides to become "black" for a day to prove it's harder to be Jewish. COMEDY CENTRAL's hit series, "The Sarah Silverman Program," returns for a second season on Wednesday, October 3 at 10:30 p.m.
"The Sarah Silverman Program" stars Silverman who plays a character (aptly named Sarah Silverman) whose absurd daily life is told through narrative and an occasional song. In each episode, Sarah falls into unique, unsettling and always hilarious predicaments, with her sister (played by real-life sister Laura Silverman), her nerdy gay neighbors, Brian and Steve (Brian Posehn and < a href="http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_sarah_silverman_program/cast/steve_agee.jhtml">Steve Agee) and dim-witted Officer Jay (Jay Johnston) never far from her side.
In the premiere episode, "Bored of the Rings," Sarah discovers that the community group she's joined (only for their lemon bars) is a radical anti-abortion group determined to bomb the clinic where Laura volunteers. Meanwhile, a game of "Dungeons & Dragons" interferes with Steve and Brian's plans for a date night, threatening their relationship. Everyone must come together and channel their inner hero to save Laura and the clinic.
Sarah Silverman made an impressive splash when the feature-length film version of her stage show, "Jesus is Magic," was met with critical acclaim upon its release in 2005. Silverman garnered rave reviews in the documentary feature "The Aristocrats," in which she co-starred along with 100 of the industry's most prominent comedians. She also starred opposite Jack Black, Mike White and Joan Cusack in Paramount Picture's "The School of Rock," among others.
Laura Silverman is best known for her role in HBO's series, "The Comeback." She also appeared in her sister's film, "Jesus is Magic" as well as "Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist." Brian Posehn is best known for his role in "Just Shoot Me" as well as appearances in "Seinfeld," "Newsradio," and "Everybody Loves Raymond." Steve Agee also appeared in "Jesus is Magic" as well as Bobcat Goldthwait's film, "Sleeping Dogs Lie." Jay Johnston can be seen in the film "Anchorman" and appeared in the HBO television series, "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Mr. Show" and the FOX television series, "Malcolm in the Middle."
Launching this month, the updated "Sarah Silverman Program" Web site will feature exclusive video from Sarah and her friends with new clips rolling out every week online, as well as via mobile phone video. See what Sarah and the gang do backstage each week in "The Sarah Silverman Program Nuggets," a video peek behind-the-scenes of the show. Also, check-in for original animated shorts that expand on each episode including a look into Sarah's dreams, and more adventures from Sarah's favorite show-within-a-show, Cookie Party. The new site also offers a daily blog with stories from the set, messages from the show creators and updates on the cast.
"The Sarah Silverman Program: Season One" DVD is a single disc containing all six episodes from the first season and will hit stores on Tuesday, October 2. Bonus material features musical performances, storyboard animatics and audio commentary with the entire cast.
The series is based on an idea by Silverman, Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab (Oscar-nominated "Monster House"). Silverman, Schrab, Heidi Herzon ("Jesus is Magic") and Dan Sterling ("The Daily Show") are the executive producers. Schrab also serves as director of several of the episodes. Gary Mann is the executive in charge of production for COMEDY CENTRAL.
