KATHY GRIFFIN IS HELL-ARIOUS IN BRAVO'S ORIGINAL COMEDY SPECIAL, "KATHY GRIFFIN: STRAIGHT TO HELL," PREMIERING THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 29 AT 9 PM ET/PT
BURBANK, Calif. - November 19, 2007 Emmy-Award winner Kathy Griffin raises hell in her sixth original Bravo comedy special, "Kathy Griffin: Straight To Hell," Thursday, November 29 at 9 PM ET/PT. In her first stand-up special since her acceptance speech at the 2007 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, Griffin dishes right back at her critics before a sold-old crowd in her hometown of Chicago.
The audience gets a hearty helping of her whip-smart, no holds barred take on everything from Senator Larry Craig to the dirty talk in the makeup room at "The View." It's an audience she knows well, but Griffin's never afraid to admit when she can't relate. "Where are mystraight guys? Okay, where are my straight guys who were dragged here by the wife or girlfriend? I'm sorry - I don't speak your language. I speak fluent gay."
Griffin dishes about her encounter with Martha Stewart while guest hosting on "The View." Stewart is her usual straight-laced and organized self, and gives Griffin an excellent idea for jazzing up her staff. "She brings in three of her assistants, who she makes wear uniforms -- a salmon shirt, khakis and a kerchief." This inspires Griffin to establish a new dress code for her assistants. "Tom, Tiffany and Jessica uniforms! Something to really show some respect for the company -- maybe a thong, a tutu and pasties."
Of course, Griffin's act wouldn't be complete without her signature, quick-witted remarks and observations on celebrity culture, this time taking jabs at Paula Abdul, Paris Hilton and Dr. Phil. "He's not even a real shrink. I think he's a botanist!"
Griffin's pretty sure her politically (and religiously) incorrect act will not be getting her past the pearly gates of heaven, and it's not surprising that she seems almost excited about it. "I have my handbasket all decorated."
