"EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION" HELPS A SWIM INSTRUCTOR AND HER FAMILY STAY AFLOAT BY MAKING MUCH NEEDED REPAIRS TO HER HOME AND POOL CENTER, WHICH PROVIDES SWIM INSTRUCTION FOR DISABLED CHILDREN IN HER COMMUNITY

The Chapin family of Kirkland, WA was happy to receive the good news that Ty and the designers of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" will be renovating and making safe their poorly constructed home and backyard pool in just seven days, on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Connie Chapin is a hard working single mother and avid swimmer who turned her backyard swimming pool into a much needed community resource. As a private swim instructor who started her own swim instruction company, Connie has taught over 200 kids, some who suffer from various disabilities like autism and cerebral palsy, how to swim -- a life saving skill Connie believes that all children should have. She gives the lessons in her own backyard pool so that she can be available to her children at all times. In addition, Connie and her daughters, Molly and Anna, are active in several community charities, their church and local awareness groups.

As her clientele was steadily increasing, Connie was delivered some bad news. In 2005 the city inspectors informed her that her facility was not up to code in certain areas and gave her a list of required improvements to make. For two years she has been getting extensions from the city as she has tried to make these improvements. She has held regular volunteer work days, soliciting help from clients, neighbors and members of the community, but the problems have become too great for her to fix on her own. During this time, Connie's home was also inspected and she received even more bad news: The home had been poorly constructed and was on the brink of collapse. Now Connie was facing the possibility that she might lose her business AND home at the same time.

It's time for Ty and the gang of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" to provide the dream home the Chapins deserve and keep Connie's business afloat by fixing the pool. While Ty and the designers, the Building Industry Association of Washington, led by Doyle Custom Homes and hundreds of volunteers and workers are rebuilding their home, the Chapin family will go on vacation to Vero Beach Florida at the Disney Vacation Club.

The design team for this episode of will feature team leader Ty Pennington and designers Michael Moloney, Paul DiMeo, Paige Hemmis and John Littlefield. The series is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. It's executive-produced by Denise Cramsey. David Goldberg is the president of Endemol USA. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is broadcast with Spanish subtitles via secondary closed captioning. This program carries a TV-PG parental guideline.
