Plus: Two Dads Desperate to Find Their Missing Daughters
Embark on Their Own Investigation
A baby born with eight limbs in a poor, remote Indian village is worshipped by some as the reincarnation of a goddess, but to her parents, Lakshmi Tatma was just their special little girl. Her parents faced a dilemma should they agree to a perilous operation which could give her the normal life they desired, or should they leave Lakshmi's body like the famed Hindu goddess of wealth and fortune? "20/20," in conjunction with a National Geographic Channel documentary, goes behind the scenes of the two-year journey of the intersection of religion and science. Bob Brown's report airs on "20/20," FRIDAY, JUNE 13 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
And: How far will two dads go to find the person responsible for the mysterious disappearances of their daughters? ABC News Correspondent John Quiones reports on a pair of desperate dads, Rob Mcleod and Bob Marcum, who began their own investigation after they realized the same man may have been the last person to see their daughters alive. Because of their detective work, the FBI has now joined the case and the man the fathers have identified is being investigated in connection with the disappearances of their daughters and at least two other people.
"20/20" is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and John Stossel. David Sloan is executive producer.
