"OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS," THE NEW GAME SHOW THAT TESTS HOW WELL YOU KNOW YOUR FAMILY, PREMIERES TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 ON ABC

The Fun-Loving Gutierrez Family from Torrance, California Will See How Well They Know Each Other in Front of Their Neighbors and Friends

How well do you know your family? Do you know each other well enough that, if given the opportunity, your family could win a houseful of flat-screen TVs, kitchen appliances, concert tickets, a car or even receive scholarship money for your children's education? In what could be considered the return of family game night, those dream-of-a-lifetime prizes and more could turn into reality when opportunity comes knocking on the doors of some lucky families on the new one-hour game show, "Opportunity Knocks," premiering TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.

In "Opportunity Knocks," host and executive producer JD Roth will knock on a family's front door in "Anywhere, America," giving them the opportunity to have a family game night where they can win hundreds of thousands of dollars and amazing prizes that could change their lives. Each week the mobile "Opportunity Knocks" team literally sets up shop on a family's front lawn, where an audience made up of neighbors and friends will be cheering them on.

In the premiere episode, "The Gutierrez Family," fun-loving parents Walter and Patty Gutierrez from Torrance, California and two of their children, Lucas, 13 and Alexis, 12, are asked trivia questions based directly on their lives, each other and articles in and around their home. If they prove they know their family inside and out -- in front of all their friends and neighbors they could win thousands of dollars and amazing prizes. The family will also be given interactive challenges where the TV camera is taken directly into their home.

Walter, an aerospace engineer, instills the importance of education to his children daily. He has a vast collection of toy cars and dreams of having a 1969 Camaro. Patty is a Spanish teacher and prides herself on remembering the birthdays of her large extended family and friends. Lucas is both the ham of the family and the rock star; he plays the electric guitar and idolizes classic rock stars. Alexis is a cheerleader and obsessed with the Jonas Brothers. She has a hundred of their posters in her bedroom.

The clock will be ticking as the Gutierrez family face a variety of tests -- ranging from Lucas naming the cheerleading move that Alexis practices, to Patty remembering the grade her son was in from a photo she passes every day, to Walter discovering which of his gifts to his wife was her least favorite the 1980s style dress, the electric blanket, a leather jacket or the jellybean print pajamas? With the correct answer, he could win big. Whatever the outcome, the biggest reward will be the experience they share as a family, the opportunity to bring a neighborhood together and the bonds that will be strengthened.

Executive producers for "Opportunity Knocks" are Ashton Kutcher, Jason Goldberg, Karey Burke, JD Roth and Todd A. Nelson. A TV parental guideline will be posted closer to airdate.
