"Miller Family" -- The Miller family and their many pets of Cheyenne, Wyoming received the exciting news that Ty Pennington and the crew of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" will renovate and make safe their dangerous home in just seven days on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," SUNDAY, DECEMBER 21 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. (Rebroadcast. OAD 11/4/07)
When Dan and Dawn Miller purchased their 20-acre home, they had one vision -- to create a safe haven for animals. The Millers are well known and passionate champions for all animals, and have committed their lives to saving and placing hundreds of unwanted and abused animals, many of which were close to being put to death in shelters. Their dream property, however, would soon turn into a nightmare, as the family suddenly began to suffer from respiratory illnesses. It was discovered that the Millers were being poisoned by Radon, a cancer causing gas that is odorless, colorless and tasteless. The level of Radon gas in their home is the toxic equivalent of four people smoking 12 cigarettes a day. The Millers' respiratory illnesses could turn into lung cancer if the Radon continues to invade their home. Although the family had taken some steps to eliminate the toxins, not all have been removed. They've been told that they need to re-build their home, which is something that the Millers cannot afford.
The home has become far too dangerous and life threatening for anyone to live in. In this episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," Ty and the crew will renovate the home to create a peaceful and safe environment for both the Millers and their beloved animals. While the designers, local builder Carter Brothers and hundreds of volunteers and workers are rebuilding their home, the Miller family go on vacation to Washington, D.C.
While on vacation, the Millers catch the Los Angeles Galaxy game in New York and are surprised to meet one of their favorite players, soccer star David Beckham! Beckham surprises 10-year-old son Dakota, who was forced to quit soccer due to severe wheezing from living in his old home, with a scholarship to his L.A.-based soccer academy.
Meanwhile back in Cheyenne, Country superstar Wynonna pays a visit to the construction site and performs for the volunteers. As she is also an animal lover, at the reveal Wynonna welcomes the family back home, when they're presented a new dog and cat day care space in addition to their home.
