"THE DREW CAREY SHOW" (6:30-7:00 p.m. ET)
"Drew Between the Rock and a Hard Place" (CONTENT RATING TBD)
DREW CAREY PERFORMS THE SONG "I THINK" With Mr. Wick (Craig Ferguson) in drug rehabilitation, store owner Mrs. Fran Louder (recurring guest star Nan Martin) offers Mr. Wick's job to Drew (Drew Carey), who refuses it, preferring to concentrate on his music. Mrs. Louder promotes her submissive lover, employee Larry Almada (recurring guest star Ian Gomez), and Larry promptly reduces the store's health insurance benefits package to save money. Drew's band is hired to play in all the hotels of a local chain. Drew announces that he is quitting the store and begins to pack his belongings. But his coworkers, amazingly even Mimi (Kathy Kinney), beg him to stay one more day and solve the crisis caused by Larry's mismanagement. Drew is the only employee who thrives on incredibly tedious details. After an all-night session studying the store's finances, Drew enables the store to afford good health care again. Realizing that helping people at the store is actually what he's passionate about, Drew continues working there and quits the band. The band immediately hires a new lead performer, "Weird Al" Yankovic (himself). Meanwhile, Kate's (Christa Miller) latest awful job requires her to wear scanty outfits and be pinched by lecherous bar patrons as part of a beer promotion. Writteny by Richard Day and directed by Sam Simon (#466254).
