"THE DREW CAREY SHOW" (6:00-6:30 p.m. ET)

"High Road to China" (CONTENT RATING TBD)

Mimi sends Drew to China After Drew (Drew Carey) plays an elaborate prank on Mimi (Kathey Kinney), she bests him with the ultimate practical joke: she sends him to China! When a groggy Drew awakens atop the Great Wall of China, he gradually realizes that he has been drugged and shipped to Asia without any money, identification or passport. An English-speaking villager, Ming (Lin Lie), takes pity on him, letting him sleep in her overcrowded home and giving him a job selling chickens. Because of a storm, there is no telephone service for Drew to call his concerned friends, who learn the truth from Mimi but are unable to help Drew. When Drew becomes desperate, and annoying, Ming drives him 200 miles to Beijing and leaves him at the American Embassy. Unfortunately, it's closed for Thanksgiving. He tries to earn money performing in the streets of the Forbidden City, but the authorities stop him. Finally, Drew finds redemption in a McDonald's restaurant near Tiananmen Square. By singing the McDonald's theme song, Drew inspires the Chinese manager to give him a free meal and help him get back home. Written by Katherine Green and directed by Gerry Cohen (#467508).
