SUNDAY, AUGUST 2
"THE DREW CAREY SHOW" (6:30-7:00 p.m. ET)
"DREW'S HOLIDAY PUNCH" (TV-PG, D)
Drew and his much older girlfriend host an eventful Christmas dinner Drew's (Drew Carey) parents, Beulah (recurring guest star Marion Ross, "Happy Days") and George (recurring guest star Stanley Anderson, "Armageddon"), surprise him by visiting shortly before Christmas. A panicked Drew allows them to believe that 62-year-old Celia (recurring guest star Shirley Jones) is his cleaning lady and not the woman he is dating. Later, Drew wakes up in Celia's house and meets her sullen son, Chip (Danny Bonaduce, "The Partridge Family"), who punches Drew in the face upon learning the truth. At Drew and Celia's Christmas Eve dinner - attended by Chip, Kate (Christa Miller), Lewis (Ryan Stiles), Oswald (Diedrich Bader), Beulah, George and Steve, Drew's cross-dressing brother (recurring guest star John Carroll Lynch) - Drew and Celia tell everyone what's going on. Although some of the guests try to be polite, the evening quickly degenerates into mayhem. Meanwhile, Mimi receives dozens of free Christmas trees after a client of her father's trucking company fails to pay for their shipping. She enlists Kate, Lewis and Oswald in an ill-advised adventure to sell them door to door. Written by Mike Larsen and directed by Gerry Cohen (#467511).
