NEWS ON THE WAR IN AFGHANISTAN AND THE MADOFF SCAM, PLUS DEAD CELEBRITIES' LIVELY PROFITS -- ALL ON THE 42ND SEASON PREMIERE OF "60 MINUTES" -- SUNDAY, SEPT. 27 ON CBS

60 MINUTES' 42nd season premiere features an exclusive interview with the general in charge of the war in Afghanistan, a report on efforts to find money to repay the victims of Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff and a feature on the still lively earnings of dead celebrities. It will be broadcast Sunday, Sept. 27 on the CBS Television Network.

CBS News National Security Correspondent David Martin leads off with an interview of Gen. Stanley McChrystal as the war in Afghanistan heats up. Conducted over the course of a week Martin spent in Afghanistan with him, McChrystal details what needs to be done to turn around a war he has already said could be lost.

Then Morley Safer reports on how the thousands of Madoff victims might get some recompense when all the assets of the scammer are sorted out.

Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and Elvis are dead and now, so is Michael Jackson. But as Steve Kroft reports, they are very much alive when it comes to earning money for their estates.
