"SHAQ VS CHARLES BARKLEY / SHAQ VS COMPETITIVE EATING,"
TUESDAY, AUGUST 24 ON ABC
"Shaq VS Charles Barkley/Shaq VS Competitive Eating" -- Shaquille O'Neal travels to Dana Point, CA to tee off against Charles Barkley on the St. Regis Monarch Beach golf links, then heads to Las Vegas to challenge Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Champion Joey Chestnut outside Serendipity 3, in the latest installment of "Shaq VS," a reality competition series starring NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal, TUESDAY, AUGUST 24 (9:01-10:01 p.m. ET) on the ABC Television Network.
While in Dana Point, Shaq will challenge Barkley to a five-hole, alternating shot round of golf on the picturesque St. Regis Monarch Beach golf links. Leading up to tee time, Shaq will be paired with PGA pro golfer Anthony Kim to receive golf tips and instructions while Barkley will be teamed up with PGA pro golfer Bubba Watson. You won't want to miss what happens when these two fan favorite athletes trade in the familiar feel of a basketball for the precise swing of a golf club out on the greens.
Shaq will then travel to Las Vegas and challenge competitive eater Joey Chestnut at Serendipity 3, located outside of Caesars Palace. For this challenge, Shaq will be coached by "Eater X" and, in preparation, has recruited a group of everyday people from the street to be his teammates against Chestnut to see who could eat the most hotdogs in a timed event. Time will tell if Shaq has finally bitten off more than he can chew.
Mike Goldberg will host, while Kit Hoover will serve as co-host and sideline reporter.
The series closely follows Shaq and his adversaries throughout the rigorous training process and the pre-game hype leading up to every challenge. Each week, Shaq will compete in an athletic challenge or a non-sports competition, with some episodes featuring Shaq taking on two challengers. To level the playing field, he will negotiate a handicap with his opponent and train with a coach prior to the challenge.
"Shaq VS," which is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1-channel surround sound, is produced for ABC by Media Rights Capital in association with Stewart Street Productions. Orly Adelson, Will Staeger, Barry Adelman, Shaquille O'Neal, Scott Messick, Trice Barto, Perry Rogers, Colin Smeeton, Mike Parris and Steve Nash serve as executive producers for the series. A TV parental guideline will be assigned closer to airdate.
