POPULAR MOMMY BLOGGER'S EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL SURVIVAL
AFTER NEAR FATAL PLANE CRASH, ON ABC'S 20/20, FRIDAY, MAY 13
And: Exclusive Access Inside the Amanda Knox Investigation and Appeal
How do you survive the emotional and physical scars of an explosive plane crash? Popular mommy-blogger Stephanie Nielson and her husband, Christian, recall in excruciating detail their story, from surviving the actual small Cesna plane crash, engulfed in flames, to their painful and long recovery, to how Stephanie overcame her depression and learned to be a mom again to children who did not recognize her. Elizabeth Vargas' report -- which also includes exclusive interviews with eyewitnesses of the crash, the doctors who saved Stephanie's life, and the family members who helped her through her darkest days -- airs on "20/20" (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on FRIDAY, MAY 13 on the ABC Television Network.
Also: With exclusive access to the investigation and new interviews with family members and experts, Elizabeth Vargas continues her extensive reporting on Amanda Knox as she appeals her murder conviction by an Italian court. Three-and-a-half years after her arrest for the murder of her British roommate, critical and controversial DNA evidence that helped put her and her Italian former boyfriend away is now finally being analyzed by two independent experts. They're taking a closer look at a minute amount of DNA on the knife that the prosecution claims is a murder weapon, and traces of the boyfriend's DNA on the victim's bra clasp. The defense has long claimed the DNA is too limited and inconclusive, and could have been contaminated. But could this new examination be enough to finally win her freedom?
"20/20" is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and Chris Cuomo. David Sloan is executive producer.
